Founded in 1997, TiVo created a new class of products with the development of the first digital video recorder (DVR). Today, the company continues to revolutionize the way consumers watch and access home entertainment.

Challenge

Elevate the positioning, design and experience of the Ad Sales website

TiVo advertising has become increasingly important to TiVo's overall business strategy. As a result, SolutionSet was asked to spark the imagination of the external audience by communicating TiVo's DVR advertising products using an entertaining and engaging yet clear and simple approach. This was done by combining static text with animated flash pieces while creating a useful site for internal users at TiVo.

Use audience insight to guide design and development

The first step to creating a more compelling microsite for TiVo Ad Sales was to define and articulate a value proposition for the program that would resonate with the audience. Through a series of strategic planning discussions with the client and research into industry thoughts and opinions on the present and future direction of DVR advertising, SolutionSet created a communications platform that both educated and enticed the audience with the value of TiVo Ad Sales. Understanding the mindset of TiVo's audience was key to the design and development of the TiVo microsite by the SolutionSet team. A time-challenged group, the audience likes getting their information in short, compelling chunks. It is also an audience that appreciates wit and interesting creative. SolutionSet designed a site that quickly communicated the relevant value proposition with humor and visual appeal, entertained with quick Flash engagements, and allowed visitors to expand or collapse blocks of content as they saw fit. The final product: A visually engaging experience that keeps content to a minimum yet allows access to more information if the user desires.
