California Closets is the premier provider of custom home storage, having pioneering the category in 1978. California Closets has over 80 franchise locations in the North America. Corporate offices are in Marin County, California.
The Challenge
California Closets needed to replace an existing sub-optimal Flash-based website, with a new website that would have better performing organic search results, more intuitive user experience, and be easier to update and maintain by the California Closets internal marketing team. The new website must be a key a component of the communication strategy, brand expression and lead generation mechanism, supporting not only the corporate organization but also over 80 franchisees and physical showroom locations. Some goals of this project were to develop a website that will provide a cohesive, branded web presence that would enhance the prospective customer's California Closet experience, and result in the visitor scheduling an appointment with their local California Closets franchise design and consulting team.
The Solution
SolutionSet produced a new information architecture, and search strategy. SolutionSet concurrently designed a new look and feel for the website based on corporate standards and existing assets, collateral, and collaboration with executive-level corporate and franchise stakeholders. Additionally, a custom content management system was designed by SolutionSet and implemented to organize and display information on the website, including articles and images, and clostet inventory. SolutionSet help design and integrated with Web Services to manage Franchise content hosted remotely. Lastly, SolutionSet delivered final software code including PHP, HTML, JavaScript and CSS for the Website.
The Result
California Closets now has a completely new, more SEO friendly website, built on a new robust platform. The new website integrates for the first time with externally hosted Franchise management data, and lead generation systems, via Web Services. Additionally, the new website allows California Closets internal staff to manage and update the website themselves for the first time. The client was particularly happy that the site launched on the originally scheduled launch date; a date which was announced to all their franchises and executives before the project even started the define phase.
